2015 Wanlida 400V active power filterPrinciple
Due to the application of non-linear loads in recent years, it brings serious negative influence to quality of power supply because of their non-linear, impact and unbalanced characteristics. Before the application of power electronic components, the main harmonic sources are transformer excitation currents, and then are generators, but after large scale application of power electronic components, the power electronic devices are main harmonic sources such as arc furnace, electrified railway, frequency inverters, rectifiers, UPS, computers, fluorescent lamp and household appliance etc,
Conventional passive filters are mainly applied for harmonic restrain and reactive power compensation due to its advantages of less cost, simple structure, but passive filters have large dimension, and their compensation performances are affected easily by system impedance and its operation state, it is easy for passive filters to generate resonance with system, therefore it is not enough to manage harmonic only by using passive filters, we must use more advanced and smart power electronic device-Active power filter(APF) for integrated power quality management in power distribution system.
APF Technical Principle
Active power filter (APF/AHF) is new power electronic equipment which can dynamically filter harmonic with variable amplitude and frequency and compensate reactive power, it overcome the shortages of conventional LC filter and obtained the better compensation performances than passive filter.
The right diagram is schematic diagram of active power filter (APF/AHF), where, Vs is AC power supply, nonlinear load is harmonic source, it generates harmonic and consumes reactive power. APF system is composed of instruction current operational circuit and compensation current generation circuit, the instruction current operational circuit is mainly to detect current components in harmonic current and reactive power of compensation object, and the compensation current generation circuit generates equivalent compensation current with same amplitude and inverse polarity with harmonic current to filter harmonics according to instruction signal, the main circuit adopts PWM converter.
